Luoyang builds Capital of Museums

  Luoyang city in central China’s Henan Province aims to build itself into “Capital of Museums.”

  Up to now, the city has 13 opening state-own museums and the other five state-own museums are under construction.

  In addition, nine private museums have been open to the visitors while more than ten private museums are under preparation.

  Luoyang, as a city had served as the capital for 13 dynasties, including the Xia Dynasty, Shang Dynasty, Eastern Zhou Dynasty, Eastern Han Dynasty, Sui Dynasty and Tang Dynasty, owns rich historical and cultural resources.

  Luoyang has many museums, which show this city from different angles, such as history, culture and single topic. For instance, Luoyang Museum is a comprehensive museum; Luoyang Folk Custom Museum shows the folk arts in this region: and Longmen Museum displays the cultural relics about Longmen Grotto.
