Peru will send its 15th blue beret contingent to join the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH), Defense Minister Luis Alberto Otarola said Thursday.
The 216 soldiers, comprised of members from the Peruvian Army, Navy and Air Force, will leave Friday and stay in Haiti for six months to help keep public security in the Caribbean country, Otarola said.
He added that the peace contingent knows Haiti's conflict situations and its post-conflict dynamics, and is able to interact with the military units and personnel from other countries.
