Amid China's microblog boom, a growing number of national lawmakers and political advisors have opened verified real-name microblogs to stay in touch with the country's estimated 260 million microbloggers.

Following are daily highlights from their microblogs, which are most active during the ongoing annual sessions of the National People's Congress (NPC), the top legislature, and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the top political advisory body.

----Li Dongsheng, an NPC deputy and the chairman of TCL Corp, posted this after the opening of the NPC session on Monday morning:

"I began to attend the Fifth Session of the 11th National People's Congress today. Premier Wen read the government report for one hour and fifty minutes in a robust voice, indicating his strong confidence in the economy."

----Sheng Lianxi, a political advisor and the Party secretary of Northeast Normal University, denied there are allowances for attending the session:

"There are no such things. To be honest, every political advisor is strictly self-disciplined. Two days ago, my child came to visit me [at the hotel accommodating political advisors] and paid 60 yuan for dinner. Then, my child said, 'This is what you eat?'"

----Feng Xiaoning, a political advisor and a famous war movie director, offered the following advice to Chinese filmmakers:

"American blockbusters have taken almost all movie seasons. It's like being on a mountain road packed with hungry wolves, it's better to launch a fight than be scared to death. Do not refuse any marketing methods. It fundamentally relies on Chinese viewers."

----Dong Xieliang, a second-term political advisor and a hospital director from Shaanxi province, clarified the role of the CPPCC in his response to a microblogger curious about how Dong deliberated the government report:

"I am just a political advisor attending the meeting [NPC meetings] as a non-voting delegate."

----Ma Wenfang, an NPC deputy from Henan province, published a post Sunday night to complain about receiving too many calls:

"A friend of mine publicized my phone number on the web. Since then, my phone rings non-stop...I understand your feelings, but I have to live a normal life. I got over 400 calls today, making it impossible to do anything."

----Wang Guoxin, a political advisor and an expert on traditional Chinese painting, reported this on Monday afternoon:

"I joined the panel discussion with other political advisors from the arts and culture circle. The proposal to apply for world heritage status for the culture of Guan Yu has been submitted."

(Guan Yu was an ancient Chinese general, who is respected as an epitome of loyalty and righteousness.)
