China's Hou Yifan, the reigning world champion, won another 0.5 points against her challenger Koneru Humpy of India on Thursday, successfully defending her world title.

After two and a half hours of play, Hou Yifan drew with Koneilu in the eighth game of the 10-game match. In the eight games, Hou won three games and drew five games, accumulating 5.5 points. The winner of the 10-game match is the first player to reach 5.5 points or more.

Koneru made the first move with the white in this game. In the end game, she found she would have no opportunity of winning and then proposed a draw, which Hou Yifan accepted.

This year is the first time that the World Chess Federation ( FIDE) has opted for the format of classical match featuring two players since the year of 2000.

The prize fund for this match is 200,000 euros and will be split between the players. The winner will get 60 percent and the loser 40 percent.
