Only truth can make the deceased rest in peace.

By now, we are all familiar with Saturday's tragic high-speed train collision in Wenzhou. So far the official death toll stands at 40 and the accident has claimed over 200 casualties. Within the span of 38 hours of the crash, the Ministry of Railways delivered the sobering orders to crush and bury the broken train carriages. Hours later, the railway system was quickly reopened. Authorities claim that the accident occurred because of equipment failure caused by lightening-damage. The media originally praised Pan Yiheng, the driver of the crashed train D301, as a hero. Citizens, however, suspected "improper scheduling" and "drowsy driving".

Chinese netizens and media outlets have already fired a barrage of questions regarding the blatantly obvious missing facts and holes in the story.

Here we’ve rounded up the top ten questions posed by Chinese netizens about the Wenzhou tragedy:

1. What was the real cause of the accident? How will this be prevented in the future?

2. How did the "automatic block system" on the second train function when it rear-ended the first train? - According to the China Daily, In 2007 the railway authority announced that China had developed an automatic block system that is supposed to guarantee a safe distance between bullet trains on the same line. Under that system, information about one train's location could be sent first to the onboard computer on the train and then to other trains to prevent collisions.

3. Why was D301 running behind D3115 and not according to their schedules?

4. Why was the railway line reopened before the accident investigation finished?

5. Why were the wrecked train carriages destroyed and buried instead of being towed away for further investigation?

6. What is the exact number of casualties?

7. How come the officials of the Railway Ministry were appointed so quickly?

8. How will the victims be compensated?
