LONDON, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) -- Fancy the dresses of Snow White and the Sleeping Beauty? Art dealer Christie's will offer you a chance to have one.
Ten exclusive Disney Princess-inspired one-off dresses handcrafted by world-leading designers including Oscar de la Renta, Valentino, Versace and Escada, will be auctioned next Wednesday to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital children's charity. Public view is to be available from Saturday.
Walt Disney has support the hospital for many years, after his first visit there in 1951.
The dresses were first created for the Christmas window display at the upmarket department store Harrods last year.
A buttercup yellow silk evening gown and cape by Valentino was inspired by the dress of Belle from Beauty and the Beast. The skirt was formed of cascading panels while the cape was of tulle.
The blue evening gown given to Cinderella by a fairy changed its color to gold. The bust embellished with two goldtone metal discs, the silk dress was laced at the back with short puffball skirt and another full skirt underneath.
Oscar de la Renta kept the scarlet silk cape and the hair band for Snow White, but transformed her gown into a yellow silk one densely embroidered in royal blue with a scrolling floral design.
All the three gowns were made in Italy and estimated to be sold at 4,000 to 6,000 pounds (6,395 to 9,595 U.S. dollars).
Another eye-catching lot with some ancient Chinese style was designed by Missoni paying tribute to Mulan. The teal and fuchsia dress with full sleeves was of the style in Han Dynasty. On the sleeves there were knitted fuchsia flowers, and it was matched with a peach silk skirt and purple knitted broad belt. It was believed to be worth of 3,000 to 5,000 pounds.
Other lots included a Marchesa teal evening gown for Ariel the Little Mermaid, a blush pink one by Elie Saab for Aurora the Sleeping Beauty, an Escade Fuchsia gown and cape for Jasmin, the princess in Aladdin, a one shouldered Roberto Cavalli in earthy tones for Pocahontas, a Jenny Packham lavender chiffon gown for Rapunzel in Tangled, and a Ralph and Russo silk satin dress in aqua blue with Swarovski crystal buttons for Tiana from the Princess and the Frog.
"It's fantastic that Disney fans can bid and have the opportunity to own these unique and priceless Disney Princess-inspired works of art," said Matthew Grossman, a vice president at the Walt Disney Company.
Mark Briggs, store image director at Harrods said these dress have caused "a huge amount of excitement when they were first showcased in the Harrods windows."
"We are sure fashion aficionados around the world will be thrilled with the opportunity to own something so utterly unique," he said.
